I like the sixteenth century tower – octagonal, with the upper part offset from the base. The plaque below the clock indicates that the tower was built for Edward Stanley, Lord Monteagle. Note to the local council: think about tourism before siting telegraph poles, eh? This is the obvious place where anyone would wish to take a photograph, but there are six large cables right across the view. Not everyone has Photoshop. |
