The dusk shadows accentuate the tremendously long, perfectly straight dry stone walls both across and up the slope. Quite an achievement, though, as Jonnie observed, there must have been times when there was little else to do, and the soil (boulder clay) is full of rocks, so the mere act of clearing a field would have provided plenty of walling material in situ.
