Lancashire now extends far further to the east of the old county border, which marks the boundary between the Ribble District and (technically) Lancaster City. This point at the head of the pass is also the catchment divide between the Rivers Wyre and Hodder; two raindrops falling on either side of the divide will take very different routes to the sea. |
