An overview of the lock. The head gates are closed, the tailgates open. The horizontal-action paddle gears, visible to the left and right of the head gates, are unusual, apparently. The white hoops are the tops of ladders into the empty lock. There's a modern metal footbridge by the lower gates, but the stone bridge in the background is presumably still used to move livestock.
