I don't know who created this sculpture in the open area between the Great Hall (behind the camera) and Lonsdale Hall in the background.
The visible windows are of the Art department, which rated as the University's best in a recent national rating exercise. This embarrassed the University's senior management, as they plan to close the department by 2007....
[Update: in October 2007, the sculpture became the centrepiece of a flowerbed (a shrubbery, really) in Alexandra Square, outside the main entrance to University House.
The Art department was saved, within an amalgamation of Art, Music and Theatre Studies.]
