Cartmel and Lonsdale Colleges moved to this area south-west of the main campus in 2004. The new blocks accommodate ~3,400 students and are correspondingly obtrusive overlooking Ellel. I'd hoped the sandstone and pink rendering would have weathered more by now.

The Lune Estuary is in the background, with Glasson in the first loop and Sunderland beyond the second. Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea are on the far side of the peninsula.
This may be the only time I've managed to capture all of Sunderland in one photo. The cluster of houses around the end of the tidal road across Lades Marsh from Overton is at the right of the image, First Terrace is in the middle and Second Terrace is towards the left. Sunderland Point (the name of an uninhabited headland, not a settlement) is off the left of the image.
