
Dry stone wall above Skirwith Cave, Ingleborough, North Yorkshire, UK, 6 December, 2008
Where the prevailing wind intersected the wall head-on, an interesting shape was formed in the drifting snow, complemented by a 'standing wave' about a metre from the wall.
The intervening gap seems to have been enlarged by sheep and walkers, but one can almost see the shape of the wind vortex which formed it. |
