Though muted by haze, the winter vegetation and bare limestone on the third of the Yorkshire Three Peaks are rather colourful, and somehow reminiscent of the buttes & mesas of Hollywood Westerns. The southern slopes of Ingleborough, terminating at Thwaite Scars above Clapham, are in deep shadow, but the sunlit valley immediately beyond the shadow is Crummackdale, with Moughton Scars visible on the far side. |
