Railway station, Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire, UK, 26 July, 2008
Horton's station was once renowned for having won a 'best kept station' award for 17 consecutive years, but its reduction to 'unstaffed' status led to a decline in maintenance, even dilapidation. However, the station premises themselves have now been adopted by the Settle and Carlisle Railway Trust and the services of a volunteer gardener have had a remarkable effect. |
