
Landslide scar below Winterscales Pasture, Whernside, Yorkshire Dales National Park, UK, 26 July, 2008
The darker green patch towards the top of the slope is the scar, whereas the triangular patch of lighter green in the middle of the image is the deposit of displaced material. Finer, fertile material will have been washed all the way down to Winterscales (I think) Beck; that material and sediment deposited by river floods support a bank of foxgloves. |
