Writing these captions is educational. For example, having previously annotated this photo of Dolwyddelan Castle, North Wales, I immediately recognised this fern as 'maidenhair spleenwort'. Not that one would be likely to forget that name. The camera failed to show it, but this solutional hole in the limestone, or 'grike' is well over a metre deep; some may be six times deeper. |
