Strange text layout. Plainly letter-spacing, text-centring and word-wrapping are concepts reaching Quernmore after 1850.

I've noted the distance from Quernmore to its church before (1½ km), but if this was the village school, it's even worse: 2¾ km (1.7 miles) from the centre of the hamlet. That can't be right – perhaps the school master retired here?
