Designed by Thomas Harrison at the end of the 18th Century, the decagonal, Gothic-pillared Shire Hall is part of the Crown Court facilities. It also houses more than 650 shields depicting the arms of every English monarch since 1189, every Constable of the Castle and every High Sheriff of Lancashire.
