Waves from Chapel Porth cliffs, near St. Agnes, Cornwall, UK, 1 January, 2008
Most waves broke without significantly disturbing the surface, but some, perhaps 1-in-20, were markedly bigger and broke early, with an attention-grabbing crash. These waves obviously trapped a lot of air, as each left a long train of white water extending from the point of the initial break, which took a while to disperse. |
