As mentioned in the previous image's caption, I hadn't knowingly seen Dartmoor before today, so hadn't realised the moors loom so far above the lowlands. Heading south from Barnstaple, I couldn't decide whether the line of hills gradually appearing out of haze was Dartmoor or merely clouds – the horizon seemed too high to be land.
Indeed, at 619 m asl, Yes Tor is the lower (by 2 m) peak of the tallest hill on Dartmoor and hence in the whole of Southern England.
