The prominent hill on the coast is Moel-y-gest (262 m
asl) above Porthmadog. Almost directly behind that, the largest hill in haze on the horizon is Yr Eifl (phonetically anglicised to 'The Rivals', though that's not a translation) near Nefyn on the Lleyn Peninsula, a regular family holiday destination throughout my teens.
The telephoto lens effect has compressed the apparent distances in this image; it'd probably take an hour to drive from here to Nefyn. However, it was still a surprise to suddenly be within sight of the west coast of Wales.
