Marble Steps Pot, Ireby Fell, near Ingleton, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, UK, 26 May, 2007

An unnamed stream vanishes underground here, entering a popular 1¼ km long, 131 m deep, cave network. It's also a particularly attractive spot: wooded, with abundant wild garlic around the mouth of the pothole.

Note the narrow path entering from the right of the image, and the boulder at the end, with a pale spot. That's the approximate location of the next photo.
The soil-covered ledge on the extreme left, by the tree roots, is the viewpoint of this image.
