Rowten Pot, Kingsdale, near Ingleton, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, UK, 26 May, 2007
This is one of the better known potholes in the Yorkshire Dales, considered a classic opportunity to practice SRT skills in a beautiful context. The trees in the foreground occupy a ledge (to which I was able to climb; see subsequent photos), but the hole in the background is a lot deeper! Apart from minor linking passages, Rowten Pot is almost completely vertical, dropping 105 m in total. The main pitch alone is ~50 m high. |
