The current church was erected in 1896, but contains evidence of much older buildings, including a 12th Century font.
A plaque in the church records that Randall Hopley Sherlock died at Ingleton station, having been struck by
lightning. The part of Ingleton to the left of this image, beneath the railway viaduct, is known as 'The Holmes'. A third 'random' fact: Mary Doyle, mother of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, lived locally, and Sir Arthur visited Ingleton regularly.... |
