There's a highly-visible matching Latin inscription on the other (downriver) side of this arch, but this one is normally hidden from passers-by on the Lune Cycleway by trees. It's somewhat briefer than the other one, loosely translating only the final section: 'perpetua et felicitatis' – 'to public prosperity'. |
