Clearly, or rather hazily, a windy day. Only the shoveller ducks were feeding on the water whilst teal huddled in the lee of the embankment.
The chimney is that of the pump house at Crag Foot, built to drain these wetlands. Priorities change. Several pools and channels on the reserve are now being added and maintained using toys such as this.
