In relative terms, Scorton is a 'young' settlement. It wasn't recorded in the 1086 Domesday survey (other than as 'waste' i.e. uncultivated) and was first mentioned by name, as a farmstead, in 1587.
I could be wrong, but this cottage looks to be from about that period, certainly predating 18th Century expansion.
