Chapel, Ripley St. Thomas Church of England High School, Ashton Road, Lancaster, UK, 9 September, 2006
Inside, the school chapel seems larger and grander than many parish churches, and that's not only an optical illusion caused by the oak pews all being child-sized.
The chapel itself, including fittings, cost £8,500, but the oak panelling (by Gillow & Co.?) and marble floor added a further £2,000. The organ, by Wilkinsons of Kendal, was installed in 1890.
I wouldn't normally publish so blurred a photo, but it's the best I had, and open days are infrequent. |
