The Lune mightn't look much wider here than at Sedbergh, but that's the result of the local geology (and perhaps why the bridge, maybe even the town, is situated by an easy crossing point). It's actually rather deep; enough for the reckless-but-not-suicidal to jump from the bridge, and for scuba divers to practice here.
