St. Mary's Church from Queen's Square, Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria, UK, 27 August, 2006
Built between 1093 and 1130 on the site of a Saxon church, this is considered to be one of the best examples of Norman architecture in Cumbria. Many original features remain (note the arched doorway), though the tower was added in 1705 and major restoration was conducted in 1866. |
