Quite a striking feature on the otherwise bare moorland. I don't think it significantly detracts from the landscape, but the designers deserve credit for partially concealing it in a shallow cutting. There aren't many angles from which it can be seen from more than a couple of hundred metres away; the windfarm on Lambrigg Fell, to the immediate right of this image, is clearly visible from Fourstones, near Bentham, over 25 km away, but there's no sign of a motorway from there. Killington Services, beside Killington Reservoir, is just beyond the crest of the hill. |
