Friends' Meeting House, Yealand Conyers, near Carnforth, Lancashire, UK, 16 July, 2006
Yealand achieved early prominence in the history of the Society of Friends when George Fox preached here in 1652. Persecution meant that it was a further forty years before the Quakers were able to build this Meeting House in 1692. It and the associated graveyard are still in use. |
