The well-known path from Dale Head (part of the Pennine Way) enters from the left of the photo, just this side of the dark patches of peaty marsh. Churn Mill Hole is in the dip where the path leaves the wall to head this way. The view is deceptive: that's over a kilometre away.
Frankly, I'm a little confused about the identity of the hill on the horizon. It looks a lot like Pendle Hill, but I'd expected intervening high ground between there and Pen-y-ghent.
