The road on the right, linking the village and the lake, is the one I followed yesterday and this morning, to the public launching site. The other, more obvious road heads around the head of the lake; it seems a long time since I was there this morning.
The route of this morning's main walk, to Tarn Hows, is off the left of this image, but reenters on the sloping field between the hilltop wood (High Guards) and the edge of the village, where I took this photo.
The particularly green trees in the middle of the village hide the church, and Ruskin's grave.
