Barn, Sunny Bank, near Coniston, Cumbria, UK, 22 April, 2006
The ramp up to the main entrance on the upper floor is a signature characteristic of traditional Norwegian barns – apart from being constructed using local slate rather than wood, this barn could be overlooking a fjord rather than Coniston Water. Presumably, the Cumbrian and Norwegian styles evolved in parallel from the same Norse original. |
