One report claims the church occupies the site of a motte-and-bailey castle, whereas another says it's been here since 1200. Unless the castle survived less than 150 years, that's contradictory. There are Norman stones in the churchyard, but the oldest part of the church itself, the disproportionately broad tower, is 15th Century. The rest of the church dates from a 1875 Gothic-style renovation.
