Western slopes of Moel Famau, Denbighshire, UK, 26 December, 2005
As one follows the path around the hillside from the 'top' car park, this is the first view north along the line of the Clwydian Hills. Many visitors apparently spot the cairns on the nearest peak, and, with nothing to provide visual scale, mistake the higher cairn for Jubilee Tower on Moel Famau. However, that doesn't become visible for another 10-15 mins of walking; this one is Moel Dywyll, a mere ~470 m shoulder of Moel Famau's 554 m (1,818') asl. |
