This looks like the twisted strata of metamorphic rock. I doubt it could have been constructed this way, so I presume the shape is a result of gradual subsidence (not sudden – the wall would have collapsed), a combination of the soil being washed away and the underlying limestone weathering. Remember that some of these walls are centuries old, and limestone terrain can change relatively quickly. |
