At 736 m and 723 m
asl respectively, Whernside (l) and Ingleborough (r), two of the
Yorkshire Three Peaks, are obviously much higher than Cross of Greet (427 m) at the crest of the high pass between Bentham and Slaidburn. However, I was fairly pleased with myself for
cycling the 290 m of direct ascent from the River Hodder at Slaidburn, 186 m within the foregoing 2 km. I'll further boast that this was 43 km (27 miles) into today's ride. Only another 31 km (19 miles) to go... with a
totally flat rear tyre.
