This is the last opportunity to look back down the valley. A number of nameless streams merge in the valley on the right, becoming the head of the River Hodder. The distinctive profile of Pendle Hill is on the horizon.
From Cross Of Greet Bridge, just in front of the group of trees at the centre of this image, where the previous photo was taken, this looks like the top of the hill, but the road curves round to the left, and the final 67 m ascent to the Cross isn't apparent. That was rather dispiriting, the first time I came this way....
