View across the River Lune at Salt Ayre, Lancaster, UK, 30 October, 2005
Obviously, it wasn't quite so dark as the foregoing photos suggest – that was just the camera compensating for the sunset.
Looking back towards town, this is a clearer view of the partially-filled gas holder. Just above the trees to its left, the twin 'fingers' of the Millennium Bridge can just be seen. More obviously, Lancaster Priory and the castle are on Castle Hill, with the Ashton Memorial in the background, 2.4 km (1.5 miles) away.
The trees in the foreground indicate the route of the disused railway to Glasson Dock. |
