Parliament Street, Lancaster, UK, 15 October, 2005
The large building is the Gillow building, once headquarters (from 1881) and showroom of the world-famous furniture designers/manufacturers Waring & Gillow (accredited as inventors of the billiard table, apparently). My parents had one of their two-piece suites in the 1970s; I never thought I'd follow it back to it's birthplace! The building is now occupied by two nightclubs.
The car is at the approximate point where Parliament St., in the foreground, becomes North Road, further away. |
