What; like manufacturing wars to separate indigenous people from their natural resources? And buying them off with shiny toys like a new telecommunications system, run by (and for) corporations in the 'mother country'?
It's interesting that the betting shop (bookmakers) that was on this spot for several years is now an amusement arcade. Fruit machines must be a more lucrative form of gambling at present. Click on the plaque between the upper-floor windows for a closer look. The church in the background, on the corner of St. Leonardsgate, is deconsecrated, and is now a pub. |
