At last, a photograph conveying something of the scale immediately apparent when actually in Great Langdale. The (very) green grassed valley floor is about a kilometre wide and ~85m asl, so there's ~650m (2135') of ascent to the central peak, Harrison Stickle, which is still 4km (2½ miles) from the camera.
The white building at the foot of the fells is Millbeck Farm.
