Heysham Port was built in 1904, leading to the industrial decline of Morecambe and switch to tourism. Now, Heysham is a significant container port and terminal of the Isle Of Man Steam Packet (ferry).
As is the case across the whole Morecambe Bay region, the view is dominated by the twin reactor buildings of Heysham (formally, Half Moon Bay) nuclear power station.
