South-west of the Stone Jetty, Morecambe does actually have a sandy beach. Unfortunately, 'buckets, spades and windbreaks' family holidays have largely gone out of fashion. See the same view during a sunny weekend at the start of September.
The building near the end of the Promenade, with a small 'steeple' over the door, is now The Battery, a pub named after a gun emplacement nearby in the 1920s. [No! I'm told the 'Battery Inn hotel' was mentioned in the 1881 Census. Might there have been a Napoleanic-era battery?].
