The installation of this array of 'rusty steel plates' at the former Central Pier entrance, designed by Russell Coleman, attracted letters of complaint to the local newspapers, but I rather like it. In keeping with the Tern Project's avian theme, most of the named locations are bird-related, which is slightly misleading. For example, Heron Pike and Dove Crag are only minor features on the better-known (but unlabeled) Fairfield.
