This polished white marble 'pebble' by Kan Yasuda cost £200,000 in 1996, when the Square and surrounding buildings were opened, and has a special anti-graffiti coating. A number of cows have been damaged by vandals, so have been removed for repair and/or relocated. For some reason, Barbirolli Square seems to have been a blackspot, and this empty plinth is typical. The Midland Hotel is in the background. |
