Hmm... arguable. ;)
Genuinely without applying any agenda, I think it'd be fair to describe them as 'progressive death metal' rather than 'prog'. They don't have much in common with Dream Theater-style virtuosity-at-the-expense-of-creativity, anyway.

Trouble with Dream Theater is that they can be really really good when they rein in the self-indulgent widdling and play some actual songs.

BTW, the 101 rules of Power Metal is even funnier.

Yes. If DT were an instrumentals-only band, I might appreciate them more.

The 'Liquid Tension Experiment' side-project is (was?) good, if a bit OTT.
